Apple Picking 2017

The changing of the seasons is now fully upon us -- the days are getting shorter, the leaves are getting more colorful by the day, and the days/nights are getting colder.  With all these changes, I'm starting to crave all things fall -- soups, sweaters, pumpkins and apples.

We, along with about 500 of our closest friends, checked "go apple picking" off our fall bucket list last Sunday.
It was a sunny, warm afternoon, and it sure felt good to get outside and just enjoy for a bit.

Safe to say, Ellis enjoyed himself.  And we all sampled our share of apples.  Yum!

I'm looking forward to making this an annual tradition.  It will be fun when Ellis is old enough to help in the kitchen, and we can make all sorts of tasty apple treats.  On the menu for this weekend: applesauce!

Ellis: Seven Months Old

Ellis James, Baby Update - Seven Months | My Darling Days

This last month with Ellis has been SO fun!  He is such a joy to be around, with the exception of 2 weeks ago... he was sick and it was 3 sleepless nights in a row for momma & baby.  Gotta love daycare germs! :)  And lucky daddy, he was spared it all since he was elk hunting in Idaho all week.  Hats off to all the single parents out there -- I only got a taste of it for 10 days, and it was exhausting!

I'm happy to report though, that Bubs is back to his same old, smiley self!

Ellis weighed in at a whopping 15 lbs. at his recent doctor appointment, proving to continue to be just a little peanut on the "charts".  He loves to eat though; he's taking 5-6 oz of expressed breast milk at daycare every 3 hours and he gets solids for breakfast, lunch & dinner.  He likes all the veggies we've offered him, and we're just starting fruit.  We are continuing to make all his baby food, at least for now... I'll be the first one to admit that I'm that "crunchy granola" new mom who likes to know where the food comes from that he's eating, and it's easy enough to make -- just time consuming.  But he's worth it!

He's sitting up on his own now, and isn't showing any signs of crawling just yet.  To be honest, I'm kinda OK with that (let him be a baby forever)!  Plus, he manages to get from one side of the room to the other just by rolling.  I foresee the task of "baby-proofing" our house in the near future.

Mr. Ellis, he's a curious little noodle, and doesn't miss a beat. He's very inquisitive and studies people and objects very intently.  He knows when something's different in his environment, too.  I ran the humidifier in his room all week and he watched that thing like a hawk the whole time we nursed all week.  He knew it was something new & different, and wasn't going to take his eyes off of it.

He loves to play, play, play all day and especially loveesss animal noises.  They will put an instant smile on his face.  He also likes to be scared and tickled by mom; his giggle is so infectious.

Things I love about Ellis this month:
- The way he nuzzles his face against my neck & rounds his back when we hug.
- His little voice. When I talk soft to him, he talks soft back.  When I talk loud to him, he talks loud back.
- The way he holds toys with his right hand, and then takes his left hand and holds his right wrist.
- How he loves Eskimo kisses.
- His bright eyes -- I'd love it if they stayed blue!
- They way he looks in his footie jammies, especially the ones that are getting a little tight!
- That his hair is getting longer, and just starting to perch over his ears. Plus, his 1 random curl.
